How does what happened to Andrew Beckett in Philadelphia violate the 14th Amendment?
The fourteenth amendment guarantees equal protection under the law to all citizens of the United States. When Philadelphia lawyer Andrew Beckett was fired after his law firm discovered that he was suffering from HIV/AIDS, they terminated his employment because of the fear surrounding the LGBTQ+ community and the disease at the time. This termination was unlawful because Beckett was treated differently simply because of his sexual identity and health status.

How does the advent of same sex marriage speak to "due process" and "equal protection" under the 14th Amendment?
The 2016 Obergefell v. Hodges Supreme Court case guaranteed that denying same-sex couples the right to marriage is unconstitutional under the fourteenth amendment; equal protection under the law means the same rights for all citizens, no matter whom they chose to marry.
