Annie Lee- My Political Views

According to my quiz I am a disaffected democrat. The survey describes disaffected democrats as those who lean toward the democrat party. Many of the ideas that are described as a disaffected democrat I agree with including that the economical system unfairly favors powerful interest groups and ignores the needs of minorities. This causes majority of minorities to be at a disadvantage than people of power and wealth and prevents many families from accomplishing the "American Dream." I believe our government is wasteful and inefficient in many aspects and has centralized its focus on white wealthy figures to ensure that they succeed. Our government seems to always be represented by white males which is the cause of the bias and ignorant support. Our government recognizes the problems in our society that affects many minorities but their actions hardly show any progress towards equality.

I definitely think and would hope that wealthier Americans would want to help sacrifice at least a little bit of their wealth in order to help less fortunate citizens who do not have the same privileges. However, I don't think many wealthy people are and would be willing to share their wealth for the benefit of others, therefore I think the government should create requirements for citizens to meet a standard that helps more. I think it is unnecessary and unfair for only certain people to be in possession of much of the economy's money and spending it on their own pleasures when there are people starving and homeless in this country.

I think three values that every American citizen deserves to have are the right to vote, right to a free education, and right to employment/livelihood.  I often see these rights being taken away from minorities even though they seem like basic rights. Our country has yet to show the same equality of rights for all people. Every citizen should have the same value in say of what they would like our country to be and who it should be run by. I believe everyone also deserves free education and have the opportunity to learn. Lastly, I believe that every citizen should have the right and freedom to work in their desired field of employment and should have equal opportunities in accomplishing their goals.

    1. I agree with you that it is necessary for the rich to give money in order to help those that are less wealthy. Although, I am curious on your thoughts about why employment is more important than freedom of speech. But, this is really well written!
