Gabi Rodriguez - My Politics:

On the political quiz that I took, I landed in a Solid Liberal position that 16% of the country has. I think this accurately represents who I am, in terms of being so socially liberal in a way where anyone can be anyone they want to be, no matter where they stand.

Those American citizens who have more wealth should want to sacrifice a small percentage in order for other less fortunate citizens to benefit from healthcare, legal services and cost of living pay increases. I believe that the very wealthy in America should want to help people and try and make a change in the right direction so we as Americans can have economic unity for an overall goal of equal opportunity. I think the government should be more involved in enforcing this policy so those less fortunate than others can receive the help they need to benefit just as much as someone in the 1% of this country.

Three issues that have been controversial and shouldn't be are the right to vote, right to free education, and right to worship as one pleases. The reason everyone should have the right to vote is simply because our country is based on democratic ideals in which we elect officials to lead our country. We can't elect one leader properly if some people in our country can't vote. I also believe the right to free education falls under a base of equal opportunity, something this country lacks a great deal on in which minorities don't get the same base of education that whites do. I believe having a freedom of worship falls under the 1st amendment, in which anyone should be able to worship any faith because this is the 'land of the free.' It's no one's job to dictate what you believe in besides you.

  2. I agree that the government should be more involved in making sure that wealth is more distributed throughout America. How do you think that could best be implemented? Assuming that wealthy people will not want to share their money with those that are needy. What do you think the results and response would be if the government implemented more policies that would distribute wealth?
