Political Typology Results
According to the political compass, my political beliefs lie more left on the economic issues and relatively libertarian on social issues. Overall I think this relatively represents my ideals that I have in regards to these issues.
Those who have more wealth in America should want to sacrifice a small percentage of their wealth so that those who are less fortunate can benefit from healthcare, legal services and the cost of living pay increases because they should believe that a lot of people that are less fortunate are needy because institutions and systems have been built up to keep those people oppressed. That assumes that people are naturally willing to help others but typically people believe that they earned their wealth so that they should not have to share. But people that are less fortunate, typically do not have the right resources that would help them become nearly as wealthy as others. The United States Government should do more to regulate and distribute wealth more equally. How that would actually be implemented is extremely nuanced and I do not have an exact model of how to make that work.
Three main values that every American citizen should have the right to vote, the right to free education, and the right to speak freely without fear of retribution/persecution. These are only a few of the rights that should be guaranteed to all citizens. The right to vote should be given to every American because it is one of the core fundamentals of democracy. It allows people to choose who they want to be in power. Knowledge is power and every American citizen should be allowed the right to have a free education. Education is a crucial part of moving through the American society and is a privilege to have. Everyone should have the right to speak freely because it allows for new ideas to be spread and that is how progress is made. Regardless of whether or not the speech is useful or supportive, people should still be allowed to speak their truth. These all hold value into giving one humanization and allow one to show and express their identity.
I think you're very right in saying that the government should regulate and distribute wealth to create a better country, and I'm glad you've included the fact that this implementation would be "extremely nuanced". I feel that a lot of these issues are more complex than we'd like to admit, and you seem to have a solid grip on the true difficulties of partisan politics. I also agree with you wholeheartedly about rights that should be guarenteed for all citizens. I think something interesting to consider is the relationship between free speech and hate speech. How do you propose the government handles hate speech and bigotry?
