The advent of same sex marriage speaks to the "due process" and "equal protection" under the 14th amendment because people people are now finally able to marry who they want and are now under the equal protection of the law just like everyone else in the United States. This is because of the Supreme Court case Obergfell v. Hodges which officially stated that same sex marriage is "protected under due process" and all same sex marriage bans were ruled unconstitutional.
